THE CHAPEL

reception hall

Built in 1904 by Texas Christian University to serve as a multi-denominational gathering space for the community of Menard, our 117 year-old chapel is one of only four in the entire United States built in its distinct architectural style. Architecture students from the University of Texas at Austin have examined its slanted theater style flooring, the horizontal eaves located on its' face, and the rear apse. Located near the San Saba River, traveling seminary students and the church's full-time female pastor baptized the faithful in the river itself. A monument of history, devotion, and hope, our venue is ready to serve as a similar marker in the lives of our guests.

The Reception Hall at Historic 1904 has been renovated to accommodate up to 60 seated guests and boast original wood ceilings and floors. In the early 1900s this building served as the lumber yard until remodeled to be utilized by the chapel. Old check registers found in the walls during remodeling confirm dates. Today, there is still a ranch house that stands built from the lumber from Menard Lumber Yard. Located directly behind the chapel, we special ordered frames to mimic the original shape of the chapel windows. Modern amenities were added including restrooms and kitchen area. Walk through our crushed granite courtyard connecting the chapel to the hall. This area can serve as a cocktail hour spot or you can extend your reception to the outdoors. 

dressing suites

Separate dressing suites are available to our lovely couples and their wedding party. Each space has been updated with everything you may need while getting ready for the big moment. With lounge areas, plenty of mirrors, and a pool table, the dressing suite is an add-on you can't pass up. A remodeled church schoolhouse from the 1930's, this building too has a history. Just steps from the chapel and reception hall, the dressing suites are convenient and beautiful. 

siesta house

For any destination wedding, overnight accommodations are essential. On property, a very short walk over a cement bridge from the chapel is our Siesta House. With the capabilities to sleep 14+ guests, this unique bunkhouse style airBNB has all the conveniences. Perfect for wedding parties or family, the location could not be more perfect.
